Webinar: 3D Printing in Cultural Heritage: Foundational Research and Resources to Inform Preservation Decision Making
When: March 26, 2025 Cost: Free Registration deadline: March 19, 2025 Presenter: Meredith Sharps Noyes Audience: Preservation professionals who interact with 3D printing. Webinar detailsMuseums, libraries, and archives have seen a growing presence of 3D printed objects within the past 20 years, both in the context of objects entering collections and as a tool for preservation and access activities. However, there is a clear gap in preservation guidance, and the scope of 3D printing, including the ways in which museums create, collect, and consume 3D printed objects, remains ill-defined. This webinar will review findings from a recent 3-year research project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) that consisted of foundational research into museum interactions with 3D printing. It will also introduce a series of resources created through the grant, including a 3D print research and education collection, that are intended to support future research and aid collecting institutions in preservation decision making. This webinar is provided at no cost, thanks to funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Webinar Registration Policies
